Dr Marie Wessels is a medical professional who has a passion for diagnosing and treating children with developmental and behavioural disorders. Dr Wessels has a special interest in adolescents and young adults with these challenges.
Neurodevelopmental paediatricians play a crucial role in evaluating and managing conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, language disorders, and other developmental delays. We work closely with children and their families to provide comprehensive assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and coordinate care across various healthcare disciplines.
Dr Wessels has a deep understanding of the developing brain and how it influences a child's cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development. She employs a multidisciplinary approach, collaborating with psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other specialists to provide holistic care.
At Dr Marie Wessels, we conduct detailed evaluations, including medical histories, physical examinations, and cognitive assessments, to accurately diagnose and identify the specific challenges a child is facing. We then work with the child's family to develop tailored treatment plans, which may involve behavioural interventions, educational support, medication management, and therapy services.
In addition to diagnosing and managing conditions, Dr Marie Wessels is also committed to providing ongoing support to children and their families. Dr Wessels offers guidance, education, and resources to help families navigate the complexities of their child's condition and optimize their developmental outcomes.
